Want to love this place… But apparently out of beer tonight so I get the joy of clear broth. Nice place though… Lots of interesting popped collars.

10 breweries in 12 hours is my way of saying goodbye to the city of so many memories… Most of them including beer. Gav and Linz hit the house around 2 and we headed straight to Founders for our first pint of the day. I went for a red’s rye. Being the good friend that I am, I got Gav… Read more →
Wealthy theatre… Saved by the Grand Rapids Community Media Center (who are also responsible for the greatest little radio station on earth, WYCE)and located just west of eastown on Wealthy street, is one of my favorite venues in town. Not only does it host an excellent array of folky music acts, stage shows, and the occasional burlesque… It runs the… Read more →
St. George’s hall on the west side is just what the doctor orders on Thursday evenings. Sitting around the long plastic potluck tables are my Grand Rapids family. We care for eachother, look forward… Read more →
Playing cards at lunch on Thursdays (and never on Fridays) is the best way to experience Founders. The customer load is light, the servers are chatty, the conversation is always entertaining, and the game is the perfect distraction from the doldrums of daily life… Be well, my fiends. The dude abides.
What can one say about Founders? It is a staple of the city… A true icon of Grand Rapids. And I do mean icon. People worship it… for good reason. With a mug club membership over 1700 and still unhappy denied wantabe’s on December 1st, this place is THE spot. Great beer… Nothing crazy, just solid additions to a long… Read more →
You were a great car… I will miss your beauty and your quirks… Do I smell diesel in the distance?
One of the jewels of cherry hill… Brewery Vivant…. A magical mixture of barley malt, hops, and culinary perfection. Don’t come with only change in your pocket, but its worth every penny. If It’s on order the Big Red Coq… And order it proudly.
Another place I will miss is the meanwhile in grand rapids cherry hill. A great spot to take your fixie for some local beers and listen to vinyl while you wait for the movie to start at the Wealthy Theatre.
When I think of the people and places I will miss when I leave my beloved Grand Rapids, Bartertown is up toward the top of the list. I love this place. It’s chill, the local food is always fresh, the staff is always excellent… Just a great spot….
