What can one say about Founders? It is a staple of the city… A true icon of Grand Rapids. And I do mean icon. People worship it… for good reason. With a mug club membership over 1700 and still unhappy denied wantabe’s on December 1st, this place is THE spot. Great beer… Nothing crazy, just solid additions to a long list of great craft beers that Michigan has to offer. Many standard, session, and high gravity ales… Red’s Rye is the standout “stranded on a desert island” beer for me here. Great food too… Mostly sandwiches. So easy on your pocket book and your pallet that it quickly becomes your favorite place to spend a few (or all) mid week evenings. The staff are some of my favorite in the city… Pleasant, witty, and charming people. Management is engaging and interested in your thoughts. I will certainly miss this place… So much, in fact, I have re-upped my mug club membership even though I’m leaving town…
