I would like to introduce to you a few firsts…
1 – The first official Ground Foundation Footing!

Located in northern Michigan, it’s just a short walk from the Grand Traverse Bay and on the bank of Kids Creek. A footing is support point for any foundation, and as such, this location will be the first of many physical supports for Ground Foundation. As a footing for Ground, ANY supporter of the foundation will have access to the grounds, which will include outdoor beauty, shelter, walkable access to Traverse City, water, and hopefully even an outdoor shower! (There are some sanitation questions that need to be answered first on the shower) Any co-owner of Ground will enjoy access to the home while visiting and exploring the 45th parallel if I’m available, and of course have full access to the grounds. Anyone who creates another Ground Foundation Footing will be considered family, receive a key, and be welcome at any time to enjoy the home, the grounds, and the city… {a little notice though would definitely minimize a potentially awkward hello}. See me for more details about becoming a Footing.

2 – This is the first place that I have felt completely at peace with the people, the place, and the culture enough to dig in roots, spend my leisure time, contribute to the community, join the tribe, help define the term “family”, and basically add to something much greater than myself. I find that I don’t want to leave when I should, and want to come back when I’m gone… that seems to equal home…
3 – My first actual home purchase and a move toward {gasp} a more responsible life….

It was a wild ride, taking about 3 months to wade the the muddy world that is the current mortgage labyrinth… Especially when purchasing a 100 year old house that sits 8 feet from the bank of a river, it’s known flood-zone that has been completely surrounded by businesses, and all of which have been slowly overtaken by the ever widening Division St…. the busiest street in TC… But I believe it was all meant to be and I couldn’t be happier. The place is perfect for where I am and what I would like to offer at this time and place in the world.

So the next time you find the northern itch too much to ignore, head to TC… I would love to put you up and show you the sites… I now even have parking, thanks to the help of the Big Bear.
