In the brisk chill of early evening in October, on the 45th parallel, perspective on life seems to find you. When it does, that is a good place to sit and find your center with loved ones.
There is a certain calmness that grows from the Ground here. It is the kind of place where you can absorb a lifetime of wisdom from studying a single droplet of rain on a piece of bark.
It seems to swell with all of the gifts of life and then happily takes a plunge on the journey toward the unknown.
Then, of course, there is the cool, northwestern wind. It penetrates your body in a way that is both invigorating and uncomfortable… always helping you to remember the massive ridges and valleys of this tidal world and reminding you to be prepared for both.
Thank you northern Michigan… I certainly do love you.
