I didn’t expect much from the Washington DC area when I booked the flight for a conference… But I have been surprised once again. I really like Alexandria… what a cool old town. I instantly feel comfortable with the welcoming locals and love the the seafood… Though, raw clams may not be my thing…
I spent the bulk of my time here

And took the water taxi across the river to find cooler spots…

Which was quite beautiful at night.

The conference was even pretty amazing and I made some excellent connections that I’m quite excited about. They even bussed the thousands of us to the Newseum which was amazing.

It had a fantastic balcony too
On my last day there, since I had a late flight and an early final session, I decided to meander to the airport… It was a nice day of checking out the sites while strolling…. Like a very under construction Washington Monument

I was really excited to see these little islands all over town!

I love a city wide bike share program. I read the instructions, though, and wasn’t really sure about the rental procedure… But I still love the idea.
So all and all, hearts and smiles to DC… Especially Alexandria.
