A snowy November hike

This weekend I was taken for a little walk around some of the beautiful sites accessible along the Bordman river…

It was a crisp and serene afternoon walk. The area we were at was the Brownbrige lake basin. It was once a dammed reservoir that was removed 2 years ago. Apparently, as the story goes, when the engineering team proposed the gradual draining and decommissioning of the 100 year old dam, they estimated a slow, controlled drain over a course of 20 days… As with so many of the best laid plans, the actual time turned out to be right around 5 hours… There are still housed that are inhabitable… I could only imagine the wave coming down the Bordman on that fateful day! Paul tells me that the reservoir was once an unbelievably beautiful place filled with wildlife and happy outdoor enthusiasts… now it has quite a different quality. Looking out over the graveyard of century old tree stumps, which survived underwater and far from the degrading habits of the seasons, I couldn’t help but to appreciate their whispering voices. They told of a different time, when the task of concurring the wilderness was held above all other aspirations. A time when decisions based only on the now and with little regard of tomorrow. A time not unlike this time. No matter what side of the fence you lean politically on the issue, there is a certain beauty to be seen in all directions while sitting on the Ground next to where the fencepost was just removed. From my eyes, it is absolutely gorgeous.
